Just a quick one. Am looking at getting a lux in the near future. I want to know what legal info do I need to know about suspension lifts, tyres and if modifications need engineers cert etc. I've noticed that some are finding it almost impossible to get big tyres and lift kits engineered.
I know some common lifts for a hilux is a 2 inch OME lift on 31's or 33's. Is this what is recommended from those out there with luxs?
It won't be setup for hardcore tracks.
Cheers.
If this has been discussed before just give me a link to the appropriate site!
ps .....only answer the questions. feel free to post up pics, this would be appreciated!

Are you looking at a new lux? when i used to work for ARB nearly every new lux that had the OME lift put under them came back with a front end vibration at around 80+ km/h.
i have OME on my 60 and wished i never bought it, its sagged back to nearly the height it was before in the front

I have a 2003 lux with ome 2' lift kit and i run 31" tyres. I have no complaints. I use it for touring and going bush. I dont do any hard core stuff however i can get most places with my set up. I also have an airlocker fitted which is sensational. I would like to fit 33' tyres however i dont think that they will fit under with just a 2' lift.
Good luck.
Hilux's are great.

OR.......albey wrote:Any higher than a 2" body lift and you won,t get insured! My 3" body lift has been engineered. So if you go 2" spring, 2" body lift and extended shackles that will give you 6" lift and you could easily fit 35" - 37" tyres.
You could just do a 2" body lift, move the front diff forward 2 inches and run 35's with no suspension lift or need to get engineering crap done.
Just get lockers after that and your laughing.
