zf auto

Post by Hally »

g"day disco dino nice job . I run a 4.6 in my defender with a zf 4hp22 bought it already rebuilt, it lasted 20,000 in 1 year (was giving it a bit of a work out ) about 18,000 was off road .I destroyed the planetary gears the rest of the box was fine so I rebuilt it again this time using bmwv12 planetary gears drilled out the oil wells to allow maximum oil flow and a 30% lower first gear. Done about 3,000k so far couldn't be happier I driven in soft sand sitting on about 3-4000rpm for about half hour at about 40-50km/h and the hottest temp reading i got was 80deg Celcius the oil cooler I run is only 100mm high x 400mm wide x 15mm thick so as you can tell its not very large at all its mounted at the front of the car with twin thermo's in front of in (the only place i could fit them) hope this info is helpful and can't wait to see the finished product Cheers hally

:finger: hell yeah, but I'm importing anything that I may be of need (heims + their stuff, switches, lights...even the damn under-drive :))...

I do guarantee that the quality is real good, not "baja welders show truck" style, but functional for sure!

Thought you were insinuating that it was a patch-up job! both my heart and wallet went south  !

Hey Dino .. I haven't read all the previous thread (too lazy :D ) are you gonna put a rear window in that rear panel?

I might say the rig looks fabulous ... love your work. But where do you get the time to do all that work?" ... you must be single with no kids or have a very understanding family :D
