Feroza No Drive???

Post by Moonman »

The missus was on her way home tonight when her feroza decided it would go no more. Seems as though the clutch or drive shaft may have gone?
But not knowing much about em and being dark I couldn't really say... When in gear and the clutch is released it just sits still. Will not drive with any
amount of revs, in reverse or in 4WD either. Its a 90-91 model with a mechanical clutch but couldn't see any problems with cable in minimal light.
If you've got any idea could you let me know.

Cheers!!

If it was the rear driveshaft, the front wheels would turn when put into 4wd and hubs locked.

Were you having any clutch problems before?
Will it select all the gears?

Has the transfer lever been bumped into the 'N' position?? I know it sounds silly, but its happened many times.

Only thing I can think of is the link between the gearbox and transfer case. Chain driven? This may have let go... not heard of much though

I had similar in my rocky, hit a bump and the 4x4 lever jumped into N, sorta, but you couldn't physically move it, was jammed. I'm not sure what feroza's are like for access, but if you can, from inside the cab pull apart the top of the gearbox where the 4x4 shaft goes in, and see if anything looks wierd. I stuck a screwdriver down mine, wiggled it around and it fixed it :? Be careful though, just make sure you know how to put all back together as I said i dunno if you can do this on a roza.

Yeah turned out the clutch had sh*t itself...
Was off the road for a week getting it fixed but it's all go again now!
Not sure what it cost her, but it was a few hundred at least..?

Good luck!

Well I decided to do it myself... took out the tranny today, and found the bearing had obliterated itself, and the clutch diaphragm had completely broken off!!!
Ordered a new 3 piece clutch kit for £75, and hopefully it will come tommorrow
