hilux heater not working..

Post by BadLux »

Hey all, my heater in my hilux has stopped working.. The fan goes and everything but the air isn't hot anymore.. It goes slightly warmer when you move the gauge to hot, but by far nothing like it should be.

Anyone have any ideas on whats wrong?

Cheers  '

p.s it's starting to get really cold in the morning and i'm gettin really pissed off not having a heater!!!

Did you check all the hoses for crimps or blockages?

ok so the taps in the engine bay about 15cm away from the fuel pump attached to the firewall? Yeh thats not moving? However in the cab below the glovebox to the right, near the instrument cluster in the middle. Theres a white lever that corrisponds to the movement of the heater/cool gauge. ??

Pulling that leaver simply opens and closes the tap. Start at one end (either the tap or the lever) and follow the cable/linkages untill you find where it's faulty.....

FARK! I frikken ended up breaking the lever now that you slide to go from hot to cold. The lever in the engine bay, the one that connects to the coolant systems not moving. Maby a cable has snapped somewhere?

just guessing from here but i reckon its the tap
if youve broken the lever then a snapped cable would have probably made it easier to move
take the cable off the heater tap and see if you have full or any travel on the tap lever.
if you do then pretty good chance your cable is kinked somewhere

fixed it.. The cable had seized and then snapped by the slising mechanism. Took bout 3hrs but she's all fixed. Gotta take a fair bit of the dash off to get to it!!
