Nah, you'll be right Bucky. My 33's fit stock no worries. YOu can fit 35's with a 2" lift and light scrubbing. I can't imagine the ute having less room around the rear.

Is that the size of the standard Nissan Steel Rim?

That size is very close to being the metric equivalent to a 33"

Thats the tyre size for a 33" tyre on a 16" rim measured in metric instead of imperial, stock gu rims are 16 x 8 so this is what you need.

Correct. The 305 is pretty much the same as the 33"x12.5".
The 285's or similar to a 33"x11.5".

THe 285's will fit better with no lift but you will get rubbing at the rear with full compression. Nothing to worry about tho.

i get slight scrubbing with my 33"s on std off set and to a lesser degree on my 35"s on cruiser of set (25mm i think from memory) , but when they tuck right up with the std bump stop there is no reason why they wouldn't and thats with 2" and 30mm coil spacers .
if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION

I had 3" suspension and a 2" body lift and still had my 35's rubbing on full compression.
Maybe the compressed length of your shock are too long...?

I have a 3" lift and my 33 x 12.5 x 15's rub on the passenger side rear at full FULL compression. That said on full extension my springs pop out indicating my shocks are too long so this would be adding to the problem. Also no adj. panhard which is why it only rubs on one side...

im running a negative 22 offset and they seem to work fine. the lift is a dobbinsons kit.

i think they guy at the tyre shop was saying something about the standard nissan rims being a positive 5 offset... that may be the problem with scrubbing?
