roll cages DIY or buy?

Post by C.A.Moseley »

I want to put a full cage in my '78 2 door rangie, nothing to hi-tech but I'm possibly going in nissan trials (standard class) and wouldn't mind a bit off xwc, so what regulations do i need to meet. It's a hose out interior ( just seats and dash) and I'm a welder so it would pretty easy, but time consuming. Then there is the engineering of it all. On the other hand I've been quoted around the $1200 mark (not inluding engineering) by a local 4wd shop. So should I give it a go or fork out the bucks?
Also can any one help with any info on materials and positioning of tubes to get it all passed? Anything anyone know on this matter let me know. thanks

l dont think roll cages need to be engineered, but l could be wrong.
Lockers or Knockers ,both will make for fun.
