anyone run 37 BOGGERS rear and 36 CENTIPEDES up front??

Is there any rule to running different tyres front and rear in comps like vicwinch?? I am thinking about running either 37 boggers on the rear and 36 centipede up front.......both have very similar OD measurments. Or should i stick to boggers front and rear?? i think the boggers will work great on the rear but maybe not so good with steering. has anyone tried this???

there is no need to stray from the boggers. i have run both types of tyres and apart from high speed dusty tracks , always found the boggers to be better. Especially once its slow and tight and you need the front to pull around or over an obstacle.

Much more common to run Swampers on the front and Boggers on the rear.

im in the states at present doing some travelling and ive seen heaps of rigs with TSL swampers up from and boggers rear. I just though the centipede would also be a good front tyre to run. I have run TSL swampers before and loved em. the boggers sure took tuffer, just worried they might not pull around on slippery shit as the centipedes????? thanks for you responses, ill be sure to tell you how i go either way

Steve lowe up until a few months ago has been running boggers front and back in winch challenge type events including vic winch. guess it has worked for him. pedes front and boggers rear sound like a good combo

the one thing you will find is that with the boggers in the slop, just turn the wheel and stand on the pedal and they will go. the pedes are great but not as good in the deep slop as the boggers for getting in and out of ruts.

There is no reason as far as I can see that says you cant. The rules simply state a maximum tyre size. Stay within that and you stay within the rules. I think there can be big advantages in running that type of set up. Afterall prime movers use different tyres for drive and steer....
But then there always has to be a disadvantage... somewhere.

Boggers as you know lack latteral grip and so any side angles may still be an issue and you may just on some tracks find your chasing your tail. Although your od front to rear will be slightly different and so your wheels will be going at different speeds, gearbox wind up should not be a problem as you will be running on tractionless ground anyway.

For vic tracks I would probably run the pede instead of the tsl as I think it will give you better feedback and steer through the front wheels.

Put a soft tape or string around the unloaded tyre,s compare the 2 circumference. 5% should be ok without straining diffs too much.

yeah definatly, i think the drive the boggers will give on the rear will be awesome, and that was my plan running either TSL or pedes up front to better my lateral grip. thanks guys

Bit of a weird thought, but has anyone tried using tifferent tyres a each corner (eg. pede front right, bogger front left, pede back left, bogger back right)? Would this give side angle traction and pulling traction at both ends?
