Post by 84mksd33t »

Im thinking a T07 - A mate has one for sale at for reasonable price - the bolt pattern is that of a t04 (which will bolt up to the manifold of my sd33t correct?

Wat do you guys think?

A t07 is huge - but i want more POWER

Turbo?

Post by Patroldude »

Why would you want a turbo that spools up at 2500rpm? red line is 3800 to 4000 depending on motor.... doesn't give you much torque down low.

Having modified these motors before I recon, air filter (pod style if you aint mudding it) cooler and slight boost increase should be enough - if you want more power go a petrol or a v8 diesel... No one buys a diesel turbo for sheer horsepower, you buy em for torque, reliability and economy over a petrol.... if you got big power reliably from em I think 90% of all wheelers would be after one....

Just a suggestion but hey - if you wanna give it a go - do it, if you can get it to spool up lower and you can get the donk to accept it, then man - I will be getting in line for one myself...

Good luck fellahz.

Pod

Post by Patroldude »

Try moving the pod to the inner guard area and put a heat shield around it, hot air is being sucked in from the turbo below your current filter situation, cold air having higher density burns better, also put a nice 3 inch mandrel bent straight thru exhaust on it. Maybe even a small cooler.

55kw at wheels means about 100hp at flywheel, not bad really... like i said, if you want big power you have to sacrifice other things.... V8 is the way to go.....

rebuild

Post by Patroldude »

$965 for the kit..... plus many annoying hours of labour ;)

Can be done if willing to spend the time and effort doing it properly - look at christie bro's GQ diesel turbo - big power is available if you are willing to put in the time and effort (and expense).

a v8 will be going in if i blow this up.

I don't drive it hard anyways - keep an eye on temps, water, boost and oil levels.

Im going down the 3" zorst road soon - ill dyno it again once its on...
