What do you mean? What can you do to a standard round 7" semi sealed beam housing?
Unfortunately, nothing.
When you put HIDs in a housing and lense designed for an incandescent globe, they behave completely differently. Because of the way each globe works, they both have different radiation patterns and need different housings to perform as they should. Simply putting a HID setup in a normal housing is bad. Light starts flying everywhere and the glare can be unbearable.
We all know what it's like looking in to somebodys high beam, now think of looking in to something three times as bright. At eye level. It's not good.
My brothers BA Fairmont runs them ok, shines a lot of light onto the road, and aren't stupidly bright to oncoming traffic, unless he flics the high beams
I have looked at fitting an H4 kit to my Rangie, (89). because of the depth of the HID hi/lo globe kit I dont believe they will fit with out major butchering of the panel behind the lights, then thats where the batteries are as well. I have fitted some HID's to my old super oscar lights and am looking at using these as high beam with an H4 low only kit in the headlights. That means there will be a very bright light in front of the car and a huge flood of light on high beam. The super oscars are spead beams and dont appear to dazzle any more than the 100 watt halogen globes.
