Have had an excellent response from marshalls. More than we expected. This means we wil throw in some extra stages .. woohoo! If some Marshalls can come early Sat (say 9am Ch 15 in the Dwyers Tk area virtually dues West of Erica only by say 10 mins) would be cool. I will be buildin stages.
Some more generators and lights will be shit hot. Navrun will pay you for the juice.

The stages are in 4 lots of 2 stages back to back. That is the finsh box of one stage is the starting box of the next. Means good centralised spectating and easier for marshalling.
There are 2 stages which are 4-6 km long. Yeeee hah!
How are the rigs going? Not many sleeps now!
Navigators bring a spare change of clothes including another set of boots and socks - you are going to get wet feet. Settle down it's not tooooo deep - just bloody icy cold. Going to be great on DVD ... under lights ... steam off the exhaust ... V8 grumble ... and swearing to boot .... DOH!

Last sleep
This is it - the last sleep in a warm bed. So, who's out in the cold tonight building trucks???
Holly crap what a start, rain & steep slopes = Bob sled on the 1st stage we slipped our way down to the bottom then got onto the faster dirt to get going only to slide around on a few corners (marshals had put up slippery signs to warn us) , we pulled over to let one of the faster teams go by and we slammed into a hidden stump (thank god for seat belts) got to the end of stage 1 all good.
Stages 2 was a quick one, drop into the creek (3ft) turn right go up the creek nudge the log across the creek, reverse back to the start and drive/winch up the embankement - easy.
We start with the count down then I jump out to get the tree tunk protector around the tree for the winch out, Jason driving, Leeham naving (3 in our car), they dropped off easily, cruised up the creek nice & slow, got to the log (water half way up the 80's doors now. Jason snatches reverse, lets the clutch out and the 80 starts going backwards for 10ft then the clutch wouldn't grab the motors running fine under water (350 petrol), all attempts to get the clutch to engage were attempted but no go . By now the 80's got water half way up the doors - inside and out and it's FREEZING.
I'm on the bank watching the Titanic all over again !!!! I call for the recovery vehicle to get us out ------ NO recovery car .
So Bidders is next comp vehicle in line and he jumps straight in to recover us (Awsome effort bidders what beer do you drink cos a slabs coming your way) . We got the 80 out of the deep water with the motor never missing a beat, reved it for a couple of minutes and the clutch decides to work but it's wet as inside with water all over the ECU and all electrics going haywire. Jason drives up to the ledge and we winch out. Thats us out for the night, later on we find the gear box has filled up with water and we have to drain it & fill up with good stuff .
We ended up watching a few do this stage, after us there was a GQ that had winch problems and DNF'd, the Rangie scream through, winched out but blew the lights through the deep water, another 80 series went through but tore off the spare wheel carrier on the entry (carnage ) and the rest decided not to do this stage (we should've decided that too) .
After all our hassles we limped home (with wet bums & feet) by 5.30 am.
What a bummer we didn't get to do the other stages.
I've heard that the event was called off on Lady Sutton Manour track due to the ON-TRACK car rolling 5 times (Hope there alright) and others having major breakages.
Some-one will have more info soon.

Yep was a very long night for us on stage six and seven thats for sure. We had our first compeditors reach our stage at about 5am! I think! All a bit of a blur at that stage. We had no dramas on our stage with all but one car completeing the stage. Seven teams in total did not even make it to us thou!
Stage 7 started opposite to us and was deffinately a high speed stage. Unfortunately the first car to enter came unstuck at about 70klm an hour into a tree stump. Major damage was caused requiring it to be trailored home. Both driver and navi seemed to be a bit shaken but in good spirits. Im damn glad they were wearing harnesses at the time. Good luck with the repairs guys.

Just spoke to Pete, it was Darren Green in the red GQ ute that rolled on Lady Sutton Manour trk. Apparently they got crossed up and the beast went on it's side then barrel rolled 5 times down coming to a stop when they hit a tree, still some distance from the bottom.
Recovery took 2 hours but the main thing is both driver & navi are OK

Well we did well made it to the 1 stage took a wrong turn and ended up down the creek up to the windows damm that was cold , I fell out the window and ended up going for a swim head under and all .
Thanks to the marks truck u guys rock got pulled up the creek to the bank buy them where we waited over 2 hours for someone to come down.
Out of all the marshallls only one came down with a couple of guys in a rangie that were in the event (thanks for the help ) to pull as up to the end.
To the marshall that said it's not my problam and drove off from the end of the stage go f#^K yourself
anyways got my car back down today with the help from dad, rhys and the nav run guys thanks goes your way to guys

stage 1 was a lot of fun, sliding down the hill outta control and then racing alongside the creek till the finish.
stage 2 i choose not to compete in after the 80 series filling with water and my car not liking water to much, i felt best to DNF the stage and get to drive the rest of the event rather than go home so early.
stage 3 was ace, a downhill section , then up the creek bed and then a winch out was excellent, plenty of smashes and bangs from underneith the car on the big rocks but everything ok.
stage 4 was cancelled due to darren's rollover and lukily everyone was ok, so they made stage for the same hill we came down in stage 3 which was fun also.
stage 5 was cancelled due to the extremeness which caused the plasma rope to snap 4 times or so on Hoon's car and nearly rolling end over down the steep decent.
stage 6 was next to stage 5 and was good, first drive over a big log, around some concrete, into the creek and power out, i had to give it a second crack, didnt hit it hard enough first time and no front locker in. At the end was a mount to go over with a trench afterward while required winching out, me dragging the ground out while under winch.
stage 7 was a steep accent up a quarry of some sort which sore me bouncing off the track and getting slightly crossed up, and then you had to navigate around some trees to find a number, do a U turn and come back the way you came, didnt require winching on this stage, but some did.
stage 8 was shortened due to Bidders collecting a tree stump at high speed, i was second onto the stage and raced through with no problems.
i think Me & Hoon left about 6am to take Bidders and Navi Rob to Moe so they could wait for a trailer to get the car home.
was a good night but some of the stages became too dangerous due to the weather in the area.
so when are the results posted Rudi?

* more emphasis needed on safety requirements (what if Darren didnt have a roll cage, what could have happened? Many competitors didnt have cages.)
* more bunting to direct you where to go better
* more caution signs needed on the stages
* how were competitor vehicles timed on stage 1 when there was no radio contact and car order changed when a vehicle was stuck, allowed someone to pass or for the car stuck in the water?
* recovery cars needed in certain areas and there wasnt any, such as the 80 series that drowned on stage 2
* better stage planning

Just got out of bed (11.00am). Been a long weekend, just had a few hours sleep and never got back from the event until late Sunday night. Hobzee was still out there fixing a marshals car down the bottom of Lady Manner Track.
We spent all day cleaning up and collecting and recovering.
I will keep you posted on the results as soon as I wake up properly and clean out all the crap out of the van and car.
We under estimated the severity of the tracks in that area that's for sure.
For everyone that talks about tracks in Toolangi, Abbots Creek and all that, I suggest you look at Lady Manner- because that will be all you will be doing, is looking at this track. Off course the dry weather would make this track a lot different and possible to drive- or will it.

I always said with Nav Nite I find the hardest tracks and make them harder .. did you really think this was going to be a walk in the park? As it happened I took out some hard stuff and changed it to a drive down hill as I couldn't get my marshalls up it.
Everything the competitors did we did first. Even the water -Rudi drove the week before - Petrol GQ and no snorkel. I drove it just 3 hours before the event to accommodate a different river depth/current/holes, etc in my petrol 60 with open diffs and no snorkel and did it with ease. Came out bone dry. Totally stock engine with no mods to make it run under water. The suzi probably made the right call to not go in, but the others would have most likely been fine.
Yes I feel sorry for Big Ears. He didn't see the bunted exit gate and track straight ahead of him and decided to drive down stream into deep water. And like the pied piper he was followed by the Dallas Roberts and Rob Moon. Moonie said later he saw the gate but followed the others because they seemed to know ehere they were going. Go figure... I went and assisted with getting their GQ out of the bush on Sunday afternoon and it seemed like it was almost ready to start - but trailored home all the same.
We had trouble with 1 set of marshalls. They came unprepared, made no provisions for recovery, left the bollards on the track at the end of the event and abandonned a stuck vehicle (Big Ears) - a cardinal sin in my opinion. Strange thing is these guys have been marshalls at Ateco, Vic Winch and Simex Pursuits over past years and came very highly recommended. Bummer huh!
All the other marshalls were excellent, making outstanding contributions.
On Sunday I went to collect Steve who camped with his Hilux - busted ball joint (Drag link and J arm). We went to check on Big Ear's GQ and found a civilian stuck in his 100 series, Recovered him, collected bollards (not collected by SS1/SS2 marshalls then assisted Big Ears get to his trailer. By the time we got to Moe it was 7pm and Darren at Moe 4x4 happened to have the parts - Top bloke. At 8pm Steve and I headed back in to Lady Manners Sutton Tk to fix and recover the Hilux. It was 2am Monday am when I eventually got home, knowing everyone was safe at home. What a big weekend of no sleep.

Not trying to be a smart ass just curious on what is covered and allowed in reguards to your insurance and the competitors.
I'm thinking of entering in one of these harder events of yours as I absolutely loved the Pirahna Challenge just want to no what we are covered for and what we're not

Good work hobzee, good to see you stick in there till the end!... I don't think it's fair of people to criticise the difficulty of an event that is rated "HARD" in all it's promo. If you drive everything then you get complaints that it wasn't hard enough. With the capability of vehicles these days there is a very fine line between drivable and potentially dangerous. There were competitors that had the common sense not to try some stages because they weren't confident... I'll say it again, the common sense.....
The choice is always yours as to wether or not you tackle it and if so how hard you go.
Good to see some full on events that aren't man made truck breakers. It's just a pity there both within a fortnight of other events i want to do.. Well done to all competitors and congratulations to the winners and place getters.. Who ever they may be... RESULTS please?????

Hey I'm not bitching about the event (I loved the 2 stages we did and I play around this area also so we knew what we were in for) only wish we could have kept going and I'm definately doing another Navnight in my car.
But I will have a bitch about the attitude of the marshals on SS2 regarding recovering Jason's 80series ! at least one of the marshals got in and helped out when Biders recovered us.
I'm buying Jason a crap load of silicon too that'll fix that puppy from being water logged.
