g'day lads and ladettes,
it's come time to sell the MQ and buy a new truck, and walking along parramatta road yesterday i noticed quite a few import 60 series cruisers in car yards. most are sub 8k, most have less than 150km on the clock (the t-d ones I've been looking at) and come with a bit of luxo gear, power windows, up-spec stereos (not that a standard stereo matters to a 20 year old bloke!), etc.
your thoughts please? I have about 12k to spend, and 8 on a car would leave 2k to replace injectors and have injector pump rebuilt/timing done, plus money for insurance, etc.
someone mentioned to me that they *might* put heaps of salt down on the roads in japan to melt the ice? i.e. might be rust buckets?
and on a lighter note, one thing they ALL seem to have is ciggie burns in the drivers seats? WTF? can't japanese people drive and smoke at the same time?

60's are a great truck, i just came back today from a trip to the snow (Brisbane-Thredbo and back again) and the old girl didnt miss a beat, she just clicked over 350 000k, over taking trucks was no worries with the mighty old 12HT. only down side is my gearbox is now leaking and has a noise when i back off, i gather a bearing is on its way out. but thats okay i get it fixed and its 1 major thing i wont have to worry about for a while

i think you mean the yanks didn't get diesels. they did get a efi 3f though. the japs are big on diesels. but some may be lacking in the service department. Interesting to see some turbos are as low as 8g. I remember seeing them for as much as 20k.bad_religion_au wrote:99% sure the japs didn't get diesel 60'sGumby wrote:Are you sure they came from the japs.
They could have come from the states ??
Who knows...just a thought
Nice to see another bloke hungry for a 60
salty roads are big in the states, and if you read around you'll see that the 60s are prone to rust in the lower rear quarters, the wheel arches and the crossmember at the rear, where the shocks mount to (they seem to rust up real bad). and generally anywhere else of the truck (roof included, though i think the highroofs were less susceptable)
