how to get to rear bolts for body lift

how do you get to the rear bolts on a feroza to do a body lift? i can see the nuts on the underside but how fo you get to the bolts

any help please

Hi,
you can try with the "technic" of the "double nut":
You have to put and lock another nut on the stud, then you have to unscrew the original nut. Practically uncrewing the original nut will force on the second nut as a head bold.

A Socket set :? Extension piece if need be :? ... if its reall tight, wack it a few times with a hammer to loosen the bond that might have built up over the years between thread/hole. Or just drill em out, your going to replace em anyways :idea:

If access is the trouble, have a look on the inside of the body too.

i can get the nut undone its getting the old stud out to fit the new one, just trying to get it out so i can get all the right lenght bolts tomorrow and do body lift tom orrow afternoon, i just cant find the other end of the bolt that is hidden inside the rear section

Get a stud remover. Failing that use the double nut idea as someone has already mentioned. Have you got it out yet, how'd you go?

put it aside for a few weeks, blew front diff on weekend so have to get that replaced first

i can get the nut undone but how do you get the bolt out to replace it with the longer one ( i camt find the top of the bolt) :roll:

Get another nut, and tighten it down on top of the first. Then get a socket down over both and undo ...

i had the same problem with my rocky...i forget wat we did...

u could always get out a hole saw and hack into the body above then do wat u gotta...

i didnt think we ended up securing the rear blocks properly did we? oh well doesnt matter now...the rocky just sits in the shed :lol:

weld a nut to the top of the stud and undo it with whateva.
use vicegrips
do double locking nut method... etc

once its out u can reuse the middle mounting bolts on the front and rear.
so u only have to buy 6-150mm metric fine 8.8 grade.

when u end up doin the body lift dont forget to fill the blocks with grease
or the bolts will rust out over time from the inside being filled with water.

I think your assuming that it is a bolt that drops down from above somewhere. Well it isn't a bolt. It is a stud. It does not have a head on it. It is threaded on both ends. The stud screws up into a captive nut that is welded to the body. The captive nut is not accessable unless you drill a hole in the rear panel underneath where the back door closes. You need to either get a stud remover to remove it or tighten a nut against another nut to remove it.

got the diff to change tonight and then back on to the body lift next week

If all else fails angle grind them off and then drill them out. I replaced all of my body mounts with 10 mm (or around 10mm) grade 8 high tensile bolts just to be on the safe side. ;)
