Removing the diff

Post by walker »

I am going to remove the diffs on the weekend to get 4.11's installed. The rear diff has a maxidrive locker in it. The locker was installed when I bought the axle so I have never had it out.

I was just wondering if there is anything I have to do/undo in regards to the maxidrive when I pull the diff out.

Thanks for the help.
Thanks,

Adam

Undo the hex caps on the drive flanges.
Remove the circlips.
You can remove the whole passenger side axle if you like.
Drivers side axle only pull out about 50mm or so until you feel it drop out of the side gear.
Maybe a little more, but not too much.
You don't want to pull it out too far or it'll come off the sliding dog gear.

Remove the 3rd member and you can have a good look inside at the locking mechanism and how the axle slides through it.
