Vitara 2.0 V6 swap to a 2.5?????

Post by lounbern »

OK,
What can I do? I need to swap my nearly dead 2.0 V6 Vitara engine. See this thread as I understand it is a bolt out and bolt in process that is quite easily done http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=78412
BUT, the more questions I ask around, the more puzzled I get! I am being told by the suzi wrekers guy at Dunhevened (sp) (near St Marys in Sydney) that this is the best option as the 2.0 V6 is under powered, over fueld etc etc...
I have also been told here that I have to use the fuel rail and throttle body with the 2.5.try to install the idle adjuster of the 2.0 litre if you can. I have also been told that ANYTHING that goes back to the engine management system has to be swaped from the 2.0 over to the 2.5!
On the otherhand, I have been told by many mechanics (called to see if they can do the convert...) that it can NOT be done, maybe they just dont want the job  .
So, I am throwing out to everyone here, what am I to do??
Any or all ideas greatly accepted as I am fed up with not having a car and having to catch a train from Western Sydney into the city every day!!!

i currently own a 97 2.0v6 and just currently rebuilt the engine and it cost me the best part of $3500 as most parts had to be genuine suzuki .

my brother inlaw owns a 98 grand vitara 2.5 engine is identical to the 2.0 v6 i would do the 2.5 convertion get a front cut from imports or wrecked car as you will need to change the computer and wiring .

only thing i could suggest is to find a mechanic to change engine over and the sparky to wire up any different sensors and computer
