92 Mitsibishi Pajero 3L V6 Manual

Hi all my neighbour has a 92 mitsi GLS V6 3.0L manual, problem is it has developed a water leak today (coolant) and is runniung from the back of the motor and down onto the gear box bell housing, we think where it is leaking from is at the back of the motor there is a heater hose that connects to a metal pipe which from what we can see (virtually impossible) runs back into the block we are assuming as we cant see it properly, does or has any body had this problem before, if so what was the requirement to get it fixed. By the look of it to me it will require the gear box to be removed and fixed that way,as you can only just get your fingers down in behind the motor, We can see the welsh plugs on the back of the heads and there is definately no leaks there so its coming from that pipe as mentioned above,any help would be appreciated. It could also be from a leaking waterpump. If you do a quick search you should find a few other links that will discribe similar symptoms.

when i did my first motor swap ... it leaked from there back of motor there is a pipe that runs from the back of the block to the intake plenum/carby on drivers side of motor (heats the carby i think) lucky for me it was only we didnt tighten that hose clamp - but have seen them rust there before ! if you dont have a body lift - is a bitch to get to !

Yep my guess is water pump (mine was doing a similar thing).
Coolant leaked from the rear water pump seal and ran along the block and dripped on the ground at the rear of the motor.
The other suspect is the hose you described which is a bitch of a job to replace.

I had a similar leak that went from minor to major. I thought it was an o-ring on the pipe that runs from front to back under the intake manifold. I was so convinced that this was the case that I started to pull it down to fix it only to find it was one of the small heater hoses that are at the back of the engine. It is a bit of a pain to get in there but it can be done without too much trouble. If you are going to do it change all of them at once. No sense doing it twice!! Check your hoses back there.
