American with some 1kz questions
OK im intersted in maybe doing a 1kz conversion here in the US but need some info. Does any one here have a engine & chassis wiring diagram for a prado with the 1kz & 5 speed transmission? Also what transmissions came with this motor and what is the HP & Tq ratings on it in the prado? Thanks.
This may interest you. Its a link to download the 1KZ-TE engine workshop manual. 14.5 meg but worth it. Genuine Toyota.

Glad these guys could help you TR!
I am sure there will be more. To my knowledge a Prado with a manual does not exist. At least not as a factory option, so the 5 speed may be difficult. Not interested in the auto??? Ill buy it and the chain drive t-case off the conversion probably. Id say manual conversion woudlnt be too hard!

humm ok so the 1kz makes 114 hp and 232 ft-lbs of torque non intercooled. Ive heard that it comes with the R151F tranny with the 4.31:1 first gear. is this the same tranny that we have in the states and could i bolt a gear driven case up to it? Also the fuel system, does it use a low pressure pump to get it from the tank to the injection pump? and does it use a electric fuel pedal or a cable to the injection pump? Thanks again.
as for the transfer case not sure - i know that the landercruiser over here the base model with the naturally aspirated diesel has the same gearbox any help? - not 100% sure but i think that the line from the tank to the injector is low pressure you should double check with the throttle - its still cable on my model (sept 2001) i think that the new ones mid 02 onwards are electronic.

TR, the R151F is used on the Toy (Hilux) Turbo 4x4 in the uS. It is mated to a gear driven transfer but the rear output is centered. The input shaft may be different, I don't know. You're looking at the eBay engine? It looks sweet.

Goodsy you listed the final drive ratio as 4.556:1. Just wondering where you got this figure from. I have a 2002 hilux brochure that lists it as 3.727:1 for the 1KZ engine with R151F box. I am putting a 1KZ & R151F in an 84 hilux and am still wondering about diff ratios. (obviously not running yet but ready in next few days to try kicking her over).
