4K - 5K Sierra Club!
4K - 5K Sierra Club!
I thought it would be a good idea for all the people with 4k Toyota donks to start a thread with a collection of specs, ideas and links for the 4K engine.
I would also like to know who else has this conversion so I know who too harass when I have a problem with mine.
I have an 81 SJ40 Sierra with a Toyota 4K-C donk & 5 speed...I plan on conveting it to auto.
Anyone know if the corolla trimatic auto will fit in with 50mm body lift and no body mods or do I have to mod the tunnel?

Ah the good old k motor. I use to compete in supersprints and hill climbs in Corollas. So have played around with them.
Go great with side drought webbers, more torque and even in the low rev range.
You can get 5k lite ace motors with autos 1500cc. Had one, but throw a rod at 7500rpm.
I also have a repair manual for the K series engine.

Pm me if you have questions.

i have 4k auto and youll have to mod the tunnel a bit the trimatic is a fair bit fatter than the zook box.i would also recommend a good tranny coolerthe biggest killer of auto boxes is overheating.

what do ta know, A 1.3L Sierra carb bolts staight onto the 4K manifold. I had problems with the 4k carb flooding the engine when driving on anything steeper than about 30 degrees . but I could reverse up near anything. It is because of were the float is located. I tried the sierra carb and it went straight on, just had to turn the fuel inlet around. the Sierra carb is heaps better on fuel and doesnt flood so much going up hill, but it has slowed the car down. but I haven’t touched the jets or tuned it, just bolted it on and it ran good.
Yeh,
I have got a 4k carb on my sierra. I have opposite issues. zook carb being usual zook crap carb with choke and jets blokking. no issues so far with toyo carb.

Which way, But yes either way they are. Only major difference is the choke system and the zook carb uses long bolts to bolt it down and the toy uses either studs in manifold and nuts or short bolts.suzuki boy wrote:Was the carb a straight fit?

I have to try and remember. If you look into the the carby there are two tubes that angle into the carb they are cut at an angle and stick about 1" into the carb. As you can tell I have no clue to technical names with the carbs. If someone can take a pic I can mark on it what I mean
