OK its a bit late but as usual i always like to have my say, you know been the Rock God and all.
Huge weekend and a huge congrats to Tony Robinson and Sam Overton for putting on a great event. Right from word go i could see that the areas had been set up well and the courses were going to be very challenging. The courses had everything from big drop off to nice off cambers (not enough throttle assult climbs though
). It is also great to see that courses could be driven by Pro-mod rigs on 37" tyres and by just changing a few bonus lines made it that much harder for the Unlimiteds. One thing i hate is seeing rigs getting diffed out due to small tyres and not been able to complete the courses, but due to the terrain and the course design this never happened which then allowed people to drive much harder lines and really put it on for the crowds.
Big thank you must go to all the Volunteers, marshall's and Judges as with out you all these events would never happen. Bec and Kate were as always very professional and worked their butts off and have so for two years, it would be great to see them rewarded with a trip to the USA, if anyone deserves to go it is those two.
Big thanks to the spectators and especially all the young boys and girls that showed so much interest and pestered me for stickers and autographs, it was a real buzz.
Thanks always to the competitors, the competion was great and the new teams and buggys are really well set-up.
Huge congrats to Jamie Way and James Kennedy from Team 4x4 specialist for there consistant performance over the weekend.
Congrats to Dave Camp and Chris Bolli for taking out the Pro-Mods class, i can see that you guys will be a dominant force in that class for years to come.
Congrats to Pete Antunac, Tazz Baguley, Dave Camp, Chris Bolli, Sean Langley and Tim Scutt for making the cut to represent your country in what will be one of the biggest highlights of the rockcrawling calender.
A really huge thanks must go to Wes Clifford who worked his butt off to get me threw the stages (especially on saturday when we had no steering). It is an honour to work with such a cool and calm (and polite
) spotter.
A very huge thanks must go to Sean Lee from ABT 4x4 who out of no other reason other than been a good sport and great guy sourced a power steering pump and organised everything to make it easy for us to get it. It is this type of support and attitude that makes Rockcrawling what it is.
Also a huge thanks must go to all the media that come out and supported our sport, Offroadimages, DirtComp, 4x4 australia, 4wdmonthly, Channel 9, NewFM, Singelton Times, Outerlimits, Pirate4x4 and all other related Media Personal there.
Finally i must thank Mickey Thompson and TJM.
The new tyres from Mickey Thompson are really starting to come into their own. The compound and construction is by far the best i have seen and i now feel totally confident that these are by far the most advanced rockcrawling tyre available.
It was also great to have the SUPPORT from my sponsors, especially Rob Keiler, Rob Van Driel, Mark Pullen, Brett Quadling and Luke Dillon. These guys came along to the event to support Rockcrawling as a whole and this is what our sport needs.
Overall the finals along with the world finals is a huge steping stone for all involved in Rockcrawling here in threw out the world.
Cheers Adrian.
