Post by hutzi*RJ70*bundera »

hey there as the topic says, im in the process of building and fitting sliders to my bundy, all is looking good, now the fish plates that are welded to my chassis which the sliders are welded to double as some chassis strengthenin as i had a little rust in that low section in the middle of chassis, now all will be srayed with rust kill black after sufficient rust proofing, only problem is i cant find anyway of cleaning the chassis rails and underbody of car before painting. any tips, sorry for the long post

use KENCO SHIFT IT. spray it on and let it soak in and blast it off with a pressure washer. it will remove mud oil grease. you can get it from auto one or repco

Wire brush fitting on an angle grinder for the caked on rust/mud/crap on the outside, wear goggles though.

Just an idea. It's what I am using, but that is on a chassis that has the body removed so it's a bit more comfy to work on.

I bet I am not the only one here with this either...I have that bastard fine red dirt all over the chassis, which does not even come off with a karcher...

It does not worry me too much except if I paint over it, maybe preventing the paint from sealing?

How do you get it off?

you can get certain acid cleaners that car detailers use which is not bad and is not that bad to attack the steel etc

On my Nissan I used a lot of elbow grease, with a paint scraper and a wire brush, come up like new.
