anything wrong with storage

if im planning a build up and im starting to buy things such as a commo V6 with auto and hilux transers, is there anything wrong with them sitting in storage till the build (mid next year) or is it better to wait till closer to the date and purchase then???
same goes with diffs??

not much wrong with it, but you may get a better deal closer to time, or a million adn one variables could have changed..

Only thing I can think of is maybe store them on a pallet so nothing is sitting directecly on the concrete.

only problem is IF you actually get a warranty on 2nd hand parts, By the time you go to use em you have no warranty, Ive been caught withj a rebuild LSD centre. put it in 12 months later , done 20,000 kays then bang. SO my 12 month warranty was hopeless

I am tending to agree with Bogged, it's usually better "storing" the cash than storing the stuff. And then you will have a wicked fun time when you start the project and go out and buy everything in a week

If a good deal turns up, buy it. If not i'd wait until just before you're going to do it. This way if you decide not to build whatever it is you're not stuck with a heap of parts you have no need for.

likes said above, if you have an awesome deal come up... buy it!

otherwise you'll accumulate parts you might not nesacarily need and going on a big shopping spree over a couple of weeks is alot more fun and satisfying too.

And as has been mentioned, it's heaps of fun buying heaps of stuff all at once!

would a VP V6 with t700 auto wiring and loom be a good deal if it was going for max of $600. there is one on ebay and starts at $350 or buy now at $600

mate i'd be inclined to suggest you'd get the whole bloody VN for about 400 bucks if you wait patiently... in any case, i wanted to add that it might be a good idea to drain the crank oil and tranny fluid... was talking to mate's old man who was an army mech for years the other day, he mentioned that things like diff centres that sit there for ever not turning over, the oil eventually eats into bearings and shit and self destructions them.
