Hall effect distributor

Post by cloughy »

As above i'm chasing info on hall effect dizzy's for a 3.5 i have a mate wanting to turbo a 3.5 so i'll be hooking up microtech after market management which requires a hall effect dizzy, as in NOT vacuum advance it MUST have a module that controls timing and NOT vac advance, so the computer can control the timing, having vac advance means the timing wont retard enough under boost, which will end in tears, Thanks Matt

What about a crane or pertronic kit into the stock dizzy with the vac ad. removed and locked ? Otherwise a holden v8 dizzy modded to suit.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

Hi,

Jaycar have a Hall effect device for $20. You just need to find your own iron vane.

Will the Micotech control EDIS? If so, then junk the dizzy (but leave it in to drive the oil pump) and go for Ford EDIS8 ……… plenty about on eblag. Use a ford transit toothed wheel on the crank pulley and a Ford VR sensor………….. a few over here have done this mod and use Megasquirt or megajolt to drive it. That way you end up with a 12x12 timing map  based on Manifold Absolute Pressure………… control of the EDIS8 module is by SAW & PIP ………..

BTW: all of the 3.5EFI dizzys are reluctance ring switching …… some to an amp on the side of the dizzy and some to a remote amp ……… but its just an amp to fire the coil…….. there is no timing control ………. Thats all crappy Lucas mechanical.

The microtech will direct drive coil packs. Cloughy knows this - got me stuffed why he is asking about crappy dizzy tech.
