Exhaust manifolds

Hey just looking for some info for my mate who has a 6cyl wrangler with the apparently common broken exhaust manifold.

He wants to get it fixed but before i pull it apart i wanted to see if he'd be better of a. repairing his current one b. getting a second hand one from the wreckers (or buying brand new if need be) or c. source an aftermarket set of extractors which will prevent this from happening again.

Now part c. is also where you jeep guru's come in cause i wouldn't have a clue where to get anything aftermarket in brisbane for a jeep.....

wow thats a pretty good wrap for an exhaust manifold!
so better power, no concerns about cracking? does the rest of the exhaust need modifying? How much we looking at here too?

There are a few posts on this forum re extractors

As per that thread Banks and Hurricane are pretty popular and generally get good feedback.

There are some that route under the sump rather than around like stock... bad bad bad for your ground clearance

Welding is a common temp fix but usually cracks again. btw cracking is most common in 99 and earlier TJs. In 2000, they changed the exhaust manifold in conjunction with some head changes. Just in case you go to the wreckers, you prob need the right one as I would suspect they are not interchangable???

call jack beedums in redcliffe as they do aftermarket headers for around the $500 installed, wildcat brand made locally and follow the oe routing around the sump, and they work well
