Gq front tail shaft spining in 2wd

Post by Jimbo »

Today i drove 35km to uni and everything was fine. Then an hour later i drove another 10km to work and noticed a vibration. Goy out and pushed the gq forward and noticed that the front tailshaft was also turning.

I ahve auto hubs but they were unlocked (took it on gravel and only spun rear wheels). I put it in 4wd then out again as i normally would but the front shaft still turns.

Any ideas on stopping this??

maybe one of your auto hubs is jammed in teh locked position.
lift the front wheels up and see which one it is

Good guess....Had another look and one of my auto hubs was in the locked position which is funny because i havent been 4wheeling in over 6 weeks!! Is it possible it moved on its own when using 4wd in the auto mode?

in regards to auto ones breaking

this will most usually break if they are left in " auto" and are expected to do a hard days work.
The auto position is for the light duty stuff that you would usually thrash through in 4wd but have it 4x4 just so you can glide through

If you are going to do a days 4x4ing, put them in LOCK and drive away, they will last much longer this way.

Ok mine keeps poping back into lock on its own. I had to drive to work today so i loced both sides so its not just spining one side.

What will i need to fix this? I prob dont have the $$ for manual hubs right now. When i do what should i get and how much?

pull them apart ( easy) and clean them with some diesel and then inspect them. if nothing is amis, grease them back up and put them on. If one is faulty then replace that one only.
