rover
i took my rover for our first drive today and i was pretty dissapointed, basically i could have ran faster when it running on gas... its auto aswell and just seemed really sluggish, running it on petrol was a bit better but still i though it was underpowered... are all rovers like this? if so, is it worth changing to a manual box?
sounds like you got something wrong with yours? Mine works fine on both gas and petrol and you cant really tell the difference between either for power. I mean its not power house by any means but goes good for a small 3.5 v8. Im not not sure what the manuals are like but I like the zf 4 speed auto. What type of rover is it? I have a classic rangie.
gas grass or arse no one rides for free
There you go, it needs a 1.222:1 transfer case mod. It should be the torqueflite model, and possibly the most gutless of them all. Try a bit more ign advance, but on petrol it may ping because it should still have the 9.35:1 comp engine. I would toss the treansfer case and fit a lower ratio one, it'll make it actually accelerate.

I have same same.
Just get it to a good Landrover mech, get them to give it a check over, and tune. Mine had vacum leaks on the hoses. Advance was not working, simple fix, timing out, easy fix, adjusted the carbies, not that easy, but made a difference.
The 3 speed is a slug, and worse with bigger tyres, what are your plans for the vehicle and budget, are you mechanical.
