Hi All.
have been thinking of upgrading my Zook, and getting a hilux.
Have managed to find a fairly cheap one (older v6 4-runner), but it has high K's - ~280K km
Looks to be stock, so probably mostly city miles.
I know Toyotas have a reputation for being near indestructable, so how critical are KM's when buying a used one?
Anything I should look for/avoid?

high KM's on used toyotas

On the 3.0l V6 look for
rocker covers leaking ( bitch to replace )
When the timing belt was last changed
Lifter noise - very common
Other than that its the same story with any engine out there. However, the older V6's were fairly underpowered so they usually get pushed to keep up with traffic, especially in auto. Just check the condition of the oil and coolant, check for smoke out of the bum and listen for any unusual noises.
If manual, make sure the clutch feels good with no shudder etc. Always make sure they engage 4x4 as well

Sweet! Just goes to show that price makes all the difference when it comes down to it. Doesn't really matter how many K's if you pick it up cheap enough a get a good run out of it.mudmacaca wrote:Thats a baby I just picked up a 60series with 380000 on it.
