Alternator and tacho difference in LN65

Post by cathgart »

Have just installed a 3L into my LN65 Hilux instead of the tired 2L. The tacho does not appear to be reading correctly now. Is there a way to adjust it? Also the charge light stays on now as well. I have the 3L alt fitted. Are the regulators different between the 2L and 3L?

The engine is a 2.8 litre diesel, came out of a 95 model hilux, need the alternator which i have since found out to have an internal regulator, the 2.4litre starter fits, need a 2.8 clutch as they are a bit bigger and I also found out that the sender unit for the tacho in the diesel pump is different so you will need one of those to. Engine $2300 , clutch $225, assorted bits, oil etc $200.

Everything else just falls in, bell housing is the same on the gearbox.
