well i have a huge problem now. i was driving car yesterday and when i go from 2nd to third the car starts to lose power then the slowly shuts itself off, if power comes back it will backfire.i can take foot off accelerator or have it on the floor it still shuts itself off. first and second are fine its just third and on. just wondering if anyone has an idea of wants wrong??

if it is not timeing maybe the carbi is up the duff....just a thought

It just had a service? Well who did the service, what did it consist of, and how long ago does "just had" mean?

Definitely got that timing/carby/tune-up sound to it, anyway. It doesn't sound like a "need a new engine" situation yet.

it was serviced abt a month ago... and is goin back monday to find out the problem

Quite often failing high tension leads will present this problem when the motor is under strain, i.e. in a higher gear. it happened to me once when just using throttle it bubbled along ok albeit slowly.
Soon as the throttle was increased it started cross firing all over the shop
and making a sort of farting noise.

Some new leads solved the problem, even though the old ones looked ok when viewed on the motor.
