Guys

I was having a good look under my Defender on the weekend and noticed somthing I have never seen before. Being my first Rover some things are new to me.

I noticed on the front diff housing there appeared to be a flange joint near the swivle hubs, somewhat inbetween the radius arm mount and the swivle hub.

It occurred to be that this joint may allow a spring lift to be put into the vehicle then changing the position of this joint to correct the castor angle of the front wheels.

The vehicle is a 03 Defender extreme 110. Does anyone know if this is what it is meant for?

Its not, but its a pretty common modification for Defenders/Rangies/Disco's that are lifted beyond 2"

Unlike toyotas and nissans, most Land Rovers have removeable swivel balls - which I assume is the flange you are talking about. You can use this to correct castor after a spring lift, but you need to slot the bolt holes.

Does this mean that I have to drill new holes or just line up the next holes?

You have to get new holes drilled, as they are not evenly spaced (probably so that people can't accidentally put them on a bolthole out)

Only on later rovers, early ones are evenly spaced ;)
