Moderators: toaddog, Elmo, DUDELUX
Ok I have booked it in for tomorrow to get the exhaust done.
I am getting a 2.5"system, no cat and a straight through muffler. $180 fitted.
You wouldnt believe it but in Tassie there is only like 1 company that can bend 3" pipe and they cannot mandral bend it..they can only crush bend it and even then they cant get very good angles..
Thats Tassie 4 u...
Thanks for all your opinions. I would have gone just the resinator except they wont pass me at the transport depot...too loud...(not loud enough in my opinion!!!)

mine was having an idling problem, but Sam just upped the idle which is fine! but was hoping to find out exactly, checking the ground and also checking the other thing you forgot might be just what it needs.
(Can you find out and get back to me with what it was?)
It is going awesome!
check it out in the members section!

hands and mums dont count!!!
Man i wish i was finished, I havent even started yet . Ive ran into a problem though I thought i could just use an R154 supra bellhousing on my R151f. I have found out the R154 input shaft is 30mm longer than the R151f, meaning also the bellhousing is 30mm longer. I may have to do a cut and shut job with the 2 bellhousings.
Shouldn't have to take it over the pits. just take it to an "inspection station" where they will recieve a carton or two of cold beverages!! hehe along with the old girl.
As for testing it. I have been for a few quick drives although it is so loud that people start to look around 100-150m ahead when it is on full boost!!
Have been going esay on it just incase something isn't tight or aligned right. Will take it out for a burn tonight, along southern outlet or something. See how she goes.
Bj something else that I had to do to mine to clear up the last little problem of the idle was clean the plugs several times in petrol.
I know this may seem really basic but it did help on mine.
There was a build up of gunk and crap between the inulator and the middle bit, and it was causing the spark to be very dull becuase it was acting like a resistor. This gunk and crap is not on the end of the plug where the spark jumps, it is back up inside the where the ceramic ends..
Sorry for the basic terminology.... ...make sense?
If yours uses platnem plugs like mine you will be looking at around 180 for the 6 $30ea.
I will try and remember what the other thing is.
Is you afm wired up right?
Hey Skip that is a shit about your bellhousing mate. Hope it all turns out ok for u!

Platinum plugs are overrated bits of shit!!! The only reason why the japs use them is cos they are lazy, dont have to change them as often.
Nick, use NGK BCPR7ES, work fuggin A1, and are only like $2.95 each

i would have no use for 6 plugs, my motor needs 8!
i think its the idle speed controller having issues.
hands and mums dont count!!!
you can use just standard plugs. the only benefit from platimun. is that in newer cars they are a prick to get to so you only change the every 80 -100 thousand. just be carefull as your motor is alloy adn changing pulgs when the motor is hot even warm. as you can strip the thread in the heads. i was told this by a mate a toyota. but it also happens wth gen3's strip plug threads. also with the plug make sure there the same temp range.
I remember hearing that its not too good to clean spark plugs in fuel..
it stuffs the electrode or something?
a bit of emery paper normally does the trick..
and before you say 'but spark plugs come in contact with fuel'.. yer I said the same thing, but its compressed that much and fired that quick, it doesn't do damage to them in normal operation..
I am yet to follow up on this theory, but yer, try emery paper

Allright. I have some bad news..... I am going back to 2" lift after the vibrations that I got from my other setup last night. At the moment and for the next few weeks I am running my standard height bundera springs... fark it is almost a lowrider!. Until I can get another set of 2" lift.
As for the plugs I will have to read into it more.!
Goto go now to get the exhaust done. @2.oopm
Cheers,
Nick

Well the system is in place. 2.5" system with the straight through muffler. Sounds awesome when u give it a gutful and nice and quiet if u are just cruising.
The engine now runs alot smoother and has heaps more power than it did with no exhaust!
I now need to get a bonnet scoop and I also need to work out an intercooler..think I will front mount it.. needs a bonnet scoop to get some air on the engine as it gets quite warm after a while..
Took it on a local track yesterday...I love Goodyear MTR's they kick arse! (Off Jeffery's Track) Those side lugs rock!
I will definatly get some pics soon.
Regards,
Nick
