power steer conversion on 72 rangie

power steer conversion on 72 rangie
im looking at a power steer set up on egay at the moment its 1983 Range Rover 3 bolt cap power steering box the bloke says its bolted on to a 74 rangie at the moment. will it fit my 72 rangie? im not real keen on bidding till im sure it fits comes with all brackets ect

I've done the reverse.
I had a 3 bolt that had way too much slop in it.
So swapped it for the manual one I had lying around.
The input shafts are different. The manual has the flexible joint, and the ps one didn't.
Make sure you get all the brackets including the pump brackets.
Mine was quite painful to change, but that's because of the P76 engine, extractors, and oil cooler outlets.
Had to adjust the front rod (steering/track - I don't know it's name) to get the steering wheel centred again.
They are f'n heavy, and messy.

I have one less leak and the car doesn't wander all over the road due to slack steering.
