60 series auto box in a 40 series????????

Post by turbo4t »

Has anyone done the above conversion?. If so, what problems did you have?. It doen't look like the vacuum transfer will fit between the chassis rails.

Try ringing Darren at Narellan 4x4, he did that exact swap to his own vehicle.

I thought the auto length became a problem, i have a late model split case between my chassis rails, i think the vacuum shifter is a split case with a vacuum shift actuator, should fit easy if thats the case, length of rear shaft may be an issue.

The length is no problem as it's a ute that it's going into. The cruiser is a HJ47 which already has a split transfer but the vacuum control assembly sticks out a few inches from the side. Thanks for the replies.

Can turbo4t tell me how this worked out as I am looking to fit a 5 speed from a 60 series with vacuum into a fj45. Just need to know if there is enough clearence between the vacuum unit and the chassis rail.
