Im doing a few mods to a 79 rangie... one of them is extending the chassis from 100 inch to 110... The engineer Im planning on using has told me that to do the calcs and engineer $1000 - 1500 would be fair....
FAWK ME..... Im using 2 chassis and angle cutting one 10 inch longer than the other then join... I do know abit about how it goes... but what do you recon of the price??????????
Can you recomend someone around melb... Also it will be rebodied with a HQ 1 tonner cab..

$1k seems to be the going rate for big stuff like that. Trick is to get EVERYTHING you want done looked at at the same time AND TALK TO THEM BEFORE YOU START!!! Someone is going to have to do the technical maths on the stretch, and I've got a feeling it isn't going to be you....
The prices are a bit steep due to the indemnity/liability insurance the engineers are required to carry (bit like a doctors indemnity insurance). Simply covering their own arse if something goes belly up (fair enough...).

yup, thats the rate now. his arse is on the line if things go pearshaped...
x2 on Bill and his no bullshit approach. I used him a couple of years ago and he gave a good estimate of time needed and hourly rate at the start rather than a high flat fee for 30 min work.

Btw - everyone I know who has extended a rangie chassis has been made to plate the join - either internally or externally - using L or C chaped channel for the plates. So I doubt an engineer would pass two chassis that have been joined with an angled cut and not plated. But talk to the engineer about it.
