I use synthetic engine oil. The manufatures spes state 300ml of SAE30 non detergent, but most people I know just run engine oil. I've also added a drain plug in the bottom, an filler hole to the top and a breather. All of which makes it much more user friendly.

All I've done is drilled and tapped a hole into the bottom and the top and use a 10mm bolt with a rubber washer. Real simple and effective. The breather is the same fitting as the diffs. I used the one I removed from the chassis when I extended the rear breather. All my breathers run to the top of the rollcage.
