Bundy with a 3l (2.8 litre) diesel engine?

Post by bogra »

hi all

I'm living quite far of you on the other side of our planet :) , in russia actually :) But we have same toyota's here. Same hiluxes, 40's, 60's, "heavy" 70's (rare), "light" 70's (we never call it bundera btw :) ), 80's (a lot) and 100's and 105's.

We use some of ur experience in offroad car building but I never saw any links to a stock bundy with 3L engine, only 2LT.
Do anybody know any reason for such a difference in the engines?

For example in stock my TLC was: LJ72, short, 1993, 3L 2.8litre non-turbo diesel, 4.88 diffs, 4spd manual, 2 batteries, some additions for cold areas like 2 heaters and fuel heater etc.

I lifted it up with 80's coils and 105's shocks, put 35" Simex ET2, bullbars, sidesteps and bla bla bla...

But 3L is weak for such a tyres, so we put on it the supercharger out from 1J-JZE 2.0litre Toyota petrol engine and tuned fuel pump a bit.
Now it drives nearly the same as before on 31". Maximum speed on 35" (Simex ET2) now is about 120km/h (on speedometer actually ~100 :) ). Dont know actually if it have now more power then 2lt engine but on low rpm I have MUCH more power then the same car with 2lt and even may be more then such a car with 1kz-te. but only on low rpm.

Do anybody have an expirience of a supercharger on that diesel? Or everybody put there turbos out from 2lt of aftermarket? What is better? We have here wery few information about such a stuff.

Thanks.
