What do you guys think about this?

What do you guys think about this?
I own a 91 Feroza with a 1.6L carbureted engine and thought trailing is not my thing. I'm considering drag racing as of the moment. My mods are as follows:
- 17" American Racing wheels
- SpiralMax Turbo Air Twister
- K&N replacement Filtercharger
- Upgraded headers, exhaust, and muffler
- Carbon Fiber hood
- Power Injector and Fuel saving gadget (added some HP and torque)
What else do you think would contribute to my ride's performance improvement?
I'm also considering getting a racing gearbox, an aluminum flywheel and aluminum pistons in the future.
Your replies would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks.

I hate to sound like a prick but............WHY
I love my Feroza/US Rocky but I just cant see It on the strip..........in the woods yes but not on the strip
But if you just had to race the Feroza then Nitrux and a turbo comes to mind
Or better yet my Friend has a Geo Tracker with a chev 350 with the back wheel wells tubed for 50 inch Mickys it pulls mid 12's on the track

Besty and Skyzic, don't be too narrow minded- I'm sure the engine mods to increase power will be of interest/use to most people on here.
Take the tranny case out....remove front diff.......
I'm not being 'narrow minded'.....I just think that a 4WD Forum should be consistent with 4WDing. He's done pretty much all he can for the stock engine.....next step is to change to a bigger engine for more HP
As the topic says....What Do You Guys Think About This ?? - He's asking for opinions....I gave mine

There's plenty more scope for the factory engine. Aftermarket ECU's for a start- that way the timing can be computer controlled (that's where power gains can be made). Detomaso cams, larger throttle body, custom made extractors etc.
Centre of gravity isn't a problem for drag racing- there aren't any corners at a drag track! I know of a Landcruiser ute that runs 12 second quarter miles and is used offroad as well.
There's also that white Feroza with the SR20 turbo engine- 12 second quarter miles too. Plus the other Feroza Rick's posted on the internet with the HD-E engine and a turbo off a WRX fitted.

Hey guys
Well, I had already tried trailing and realized it's not my thing. I'm in for all the speed, but not the bumpy bumpy 4wding. Turbocharging isn't in my list. I know it's gonna cost me a fortune to be able to get and fit a turbo into my ride. And fuel economy would be way poorer. I use my little truck everyday to school and a turbo isn't really an option here.
I've seen a couple of Honda CRVs, Toyota RAV4s, and Mitsubishi Pajeros on the strip. I think using a Feroza for drag racing doesn't make much difference. Anyways, it's bracket drag racing. What I'm against is my own quartermile time.
Thanks for all your opinions. I expect to hear more from you guys.
PS
I don't think I can post pictures now. I've got a really bad paint job and I will get it repainted in the next few months. Maybe black, I don't know.

More power in Feroza & heavy abuse = shredded Gearboxes !!
Just ask me - I learnt the hard way. 3rd Gear is the weakest - closely followed by 2nd. Feroza Gearbox is strickly light duty only - best bet is a complete engine / gearbox swap & like Besty said, ditch the front diff & Tx Case

I've never heard of an economical purpose built fast car , I gave up my rights to speed and do burnouts when I bought a 4wd ( doesn't stop me try'n though )

Ahhhh.... The secrets to only try doing them in the wet!
Feroza-V8 if you're trying to get more power on a budget then you'll need to be very good at DIY stuff. You could try to find a Detomaso Charade cam and fit it yourself. I don't know how the HD-C engine would run after fitting it though?
Any chance of finding a HD-E engine loom and computer at the wreckers? I think the HD-E is rated about 7kW higher output (?). The ultimate would be the Detomaso cam plus the Detomaso distributor/wiring harness/computer - that gives you the EFI with timing control.

Imagine an F1 car with 4x4 conversion and 37's... I guess rollovers would just mean you'd have to do the rest of the trip upside down and in reverse

But honestly dude, why don't you just go all the way with this... Chop the roof about 5 inches and lower the sills on the doors, lower the seats, extend the body so yu have more room behind the front seats and have a mid mounted V8 with the blower sticking out of the roof....
Sorry, once saw a Morris Minor panel van like that.... never been able to shake that image from my mind...

hell.. if he really wants to race it.. y dont he jus yank most of the body off an build a cage, then mid mount a v8 as mentioned before.... i mean.. come on... the rocky IS a trailer.... if ur not for that.. then i suggest u sell it to someone who'll use it for its true purpose an buy urself a lil p.o.s. honda... seriously! it'd be a heck of alot cheaper...

hello all
firstly the hight center of gravity would help times because more weight would go to the back wheels and make them grip better.
secondly any pics of the morris minor it sounds awesome
thirdly V8 my friend along with every one elce sell the fourby and but a nissan silvia or 180 sx that would serve you better on the track.

Sorry Matt, no pics of the morris minor... But I'll never forget the noise as that thing drove into the servo.... spoke to the guy for a while and apparently it pulled mid sevens on the quarter mile... and it also cost him $35 in fuel per 100 kms... and this was 11 years ago...

feroza_v8 wrote:Has anyone here thought of upgrading to MSD Ignition control system and ignition coils? Is the performance improvement worth it?
If your standard system is OK then I don't think you'd notice any difference. The Feroza's have already got a high energy ignition system, the MSD's just pulse the spark and I doubt that would give you much of a power gain....
Maybe try looking into getting your distributor advance curve regraphed. That could be an area where you'd gain power- possibly not a large peak gain, but I'm sure the mid range could be improved.
