Actually we thought you had entered and were waiting for you to appear. We were excited at the prospoect of seeing you tackle "Ruffy's Revenge"..
We built it with you in mind ;)

You also took out the bunting, double line pull with only one cable dampner before heading down the hill, coming back up and doing it all over again. So yes, i guess you pointed out.

Now, just go build it stronger so you can drive it longer.

He ran out of points.
10 points for a cone and 50 for breaking bunting were the penalties.

he scored 3 cones and two bunting breakages and a couple of cable dampner penalties. that put him at around negative 50 points for the stage

He would've time DNF'd too if he had continued. His un-rated eyebolts were about to pop with 1.5mins remaining on the clock and about 160 penalty pts racked up.
In the name of safety i alerted Ben to these facts and he made the call to just safely winch through the finish gates rather than over the ruts.

Awesome event, awesome stage. Thanks everyone involved and well driven and navied by all.

Not his wrist, but his arm.

Apparently broken both bones. Sore but he's still alive.

Brians arm is broken (both bones  ) and he is being operated on today , when I hear of more info I'll post it up but I'm sure Brian will be fighting fit for the next one .
It was a fun hard event though, we had a ball thats for sure. Man I got to get a lot healthier.

G'day G'day,

We had an interesting night at the Navnight, Our first Event.

HARDCORE!!! comp, we broke a CV before it even started!! :) just trying to get between the stages! We went off to do a practice winch before the event and discovered we had a busted CV, Bugger!! Luckily had two spares so took 1/2 an hour and put a new one in. We think it must have already been broken as it was a simple boghole, HG kept yelling at me to put in 4wheel drive but it already was :(

First Stage for us was Stage 4:
Smithy's stage, compulsory winch then good rutted climb up a short hill to the finish gate. Great first stage.

Stage 5:
Youngs Rock ledge!!!
Saw Bidders in his monster V8 45series cruiser corkscrew a tail shaft, bust a CV and break his plasma, then saw Pete in the monster green turbo petrol GQ drive the ledge!! massive ballsy effort!! We opted for a safe double line pull over the ledge and took a bit of time but got there, great fun!!

Stage 6:
Youngs off camber Rock ledge:
We had a great plan and were looking forward to the ledge, but came to grief on a nasty corner with a hidden deep hole that put us on our side into a tree, Busted windscreen, mirror and flattened A pillar....DOH!!! had to DNF the stage and get winched back onto the level. Bugger was looking forward to the ledge too. We were first car on the stage and were thanked by the crews that were waiting to start the stage as they said they would have probably had a similar fate if first car. (Note to self, never go first car on stage if can help it)

Stage 1:
With our nerves shot to pieces we drove to stage 1. Hard Up Haul.
At the start of the stage we were told that we couldn't walk the stage before competing, which didn't sit well with Andrew or I so after the count down we drove to level ground and stopped the car and went for a walk to have a look as the stage had a 30min DNF. After surveying the course which had two rather nasty off-camber drop-ins onto the track we decided to DNF this stage and save the car for the next stage (not worth the risk) We then watched Pete, then Bidders complete the stage, awesome to watch, few scary moments, then the third car to the stage was Kermit who unfortunatly rolled his car (nobody hurt). Andrew and I were happy we made the choice to pass on this one.

Stage 2:
3 Ledges:
Short fast section followed by 2 ledges then a large 3rd ledge. The two cars in front (Bidders and Paul) drove the ledges so we decided a single line pull should be fine, unfortunatly the front 2 wheels were hanging in the air so it was a very hard winch, after going back and setting up the double line pull we DNF'd the stage be 40sec!!! as we ran out of time, BUGGER!!!!

Stage 3:
Dry Creek Run:
We had walked this stage earlier in the day at had decided that the offcamber drop into the creek bed had a very good chance of us wrecking the roof on a tree as the car tipped into the creek. We were knackered and had enough carnage for one day so decided to call it a night.

Overall we had a great night, lots of fun. Thanks to Rudi, Hobzee and the Marshals.

Cheers,
Team VK Surf.

P.S. (If only there was an IFS class, then we would have been 1st at something......ignore the fact we were the only IFS :) )
Bloody IFS bugger who slows down the SAS boys.

It was a shame you passed on the stage as i was keen to see an IFS have a crack at the hill. The smallest diff vehicle was the only to drive it so the ifs may have had a similar advantage. But in saying that i commend you for taking the time to look at the challenge ahead and making a judgement call like that. well done. As i mentioned earlier the stage was a technical drive not a flat out horsepower stage. Horsepower gave you absolutely no advantage as Pete and Bidders found out. Hope to see you at the next one ;)

Fair point now i'm not completely stuffed!!!

Have ordered castor bushes & new slotted rotor to fix up some damage, going to cut the drop boxes off as the are completely wrong for this car.

I think the damage happened as i was dropping back onto the main track after SS 3 with that bypass up the hill, hit hard but nothing to extreme, i think just poor welding :? oh well for the best

I know, the pressure is really on, should we or shouldn't we.

A decision won't be made until early next year.

Hello from the silver dual cab hilux with the massive 2.8.

It was my first comp and first testing drive of the lux since I had the 80 series cruiser diff's put under it and I'll definately be back.

I had an absolute ball and so did my 4 passengers (even the one that was supposed to be competing in his GU if it had of made it past Euroa)

SS1 definatetly showed me that the extra width underneath made it very stable even though I was still nervous inside the cab.

Thanks to Rudi and all the marshalls for their efforts in what turned out to be very worth the long drive from Wodonga and thankfully home again. The friendliness of everyone made me feel a lot more comfortable in my first comp.

Can't wait for the next one and to put the 2.8 through its paces again.

PS. Was there anyone there taking photos or video footage of anything as would like to see some

Sorry, didn't get many photo's or any video, but the mighty 2.8 was a pearler.

At the bottom of SS5, all I could hear was V8's screaming, but then I watched you walk up SS4 just about silently compared to everything else. "Speak softly, but carry a big stick".. ;)

I've been to a few comps now, but by a country mile, the
navnite we saw on the weekend was the best yet. The
organizers really should be congratulated for their efforts.
It will be a sad day when these more "ground roots" type
comps are stopped.
We'll be back next year to support the navnite comps.......

I was trying to get a few throughout the night whilst making sure it didn't interfere with my marshalling duties. Unfortunately though many of the earlier pics are crud 'cos i had the camera on auto. I got a couple when i re-set the aputure and exposure to ISO1600 to catch the flash in time. Then i was just too plain tired by the time of your run. Not to mention that you caught me way off guard when you drove the hill!! Well done

Where you went left from the chicken track back on to the main track. Picked the LH front wheel up & fell over onto its roof. Nearly got Sandy on the way over.
