A loose zook bumperbar has rubbed thru a lot of my uhf antenna coax about half an inch from where it enters the arial.
It has rubbed thru the insulation and about a third diameter of the wire, but didnt get to the central wire.
Can you fix this? Can you take apart GME antennas and resoldier the coax internally in arial?

repairing uhf coax cable
Moderator: -Scott-
100% you can repair it by replacing it with another length of coax! dont take short cuts weather its affecting performance or not and sticky tape up where its worn cause if water gets in yah coax it will stuff things up!PJ.zook wrote:Its a standard gme, its like 1meter long, base is a spring, then a solid shaft for bout 20cm, then the rest is screw on whip arial.

x2. The cables are rated at a cetain resistance ( ohm) . If you alter this in any way, it will alter the performance of your uhf.familybus wrote:100% you can repair it by replacing it with another length of coax! dont take short cuts weather its affecting performance or not and sticky tape up where its worn cause if water gets in yah coax it will stuff things up!PJ.zook wrote:Its a standard gme, its like 1meter long, base is a spring, then a solid shaft for bout 20cm, then the rest is screw on whip arial.
