Doddzee, what are you doing with your spare? I'm just about to start on a new rear end as with shifting the cab back the current cage doesn't fit anymore (so I'm going to sell it if you know anyone looking?). I think I'll still have mine on top of the deck due to the winch being in the way but still looking for ideas?

Do you mean cutting behind the B pillars to make it a style side ute, or cutting the whole roof from behind the windscreen to make it a convertible?

The fuel tank on mine is underneath the box right behind the cab so the spare will sit up on an angle from the rear cross member up onto the edge of the tank. Here is another pic of the rear

i will be cutting the rear floor out and will be putting the tank in front of the diff but raised up a bit...not possible to keep the standard floor and tank however you could also make a new tank up but its cheaper to just move the floor as it is getting air shocks in the rear and i need to chop it all out anyway

its not mine i am just doing the work on it..it is already registered however the rego is purely so it can enter comps and go to 4wd parks etc..it is a trailer rig now..you just cant afford to drive modded vehicles on the road now...

comps are Woodpecker, Tough Tracks, XRCC, Tuff Truck (maybe) and similar

I'm hearing you. It's not so bad yet here but it can only get worse. You have some good events up there to cater for your trucks. I would like to get up there some time and have a go at them too.

And yes that's a 7" touch screen CarPC with GPS. Note the new position of the hazard switch to the right of the phone.

Trent Leens used to be a good looking truck. Now I think its just practical. As it is a beat up POS. That is about due for a replacment. The body is in terrible shape. And cant imagine the chassi to be much better.
But I did hear the motor did get rebuilt though.

Thats what happens to a truck thats well used hey. He's got plenty of comps out of it. It will be good to see a new one built up, if he can afford it.

I've done 2 seasons in NZ with a truck and have taken the body off the chassis for an off season make over. After one season the rear body mounts had torn out completely, a good excuse to do a tray back conversion. Now after 2 seasons the body mounts under your feet have both completely given way and the firewall is torn. I really don't think people appreaciate what it takes to keep a comp truck going. In the last 12 months I've rebuilt the auto, done trayback conversion, completely remount both seats as they had destroyed the floor, replaced every bush in the front end ($$$$$$$$$$$), alternator rebuilt after every race, starter rebuilt etc etc. Admittedly NZ mud and water is very hard on electrics. If you build a truck and race it for a season without doing anything, it will be close to knackered, unless of course you drive like a nana!
