brake issues with a GU

Post by vorno_18 »

i have a 99 2.8td GU and i cant get a brake pedal, ive replaced the master cylinder and bleed out all the brakes, with the car off the pedal feels good and doesnt sink or anything but once the car is started the pedal goes almost to the floor and sinks if you leave your foot on it. it seemed to me to be the master as it was sinking but got a brand newy and it still happens

any ideas

why do you have GQ brakes on the GU?

What model brakes are they off, and what model is it going on? There are different calipers, thickness discs, diameter discs, etc.

Bleed each section of hose/line 1 at a time...

is the system losing any brake fluid out of the rear of the master cylinder maybe ? also gu patrols have twin spot front calipers so you may have to adjust the brake proportioning when you get it going .

is the master cylinder for the gu or gq as there "might" be a dfference in the amount of fluid going through it

on my gq my brakes were spongey only when running and hard when off put new pads in and took out the metal shims between pads and the pistons and now they are nice and firm

just a thought
