replacing uni joints
Ok I have stuffed the rear uni joints and i need to replaec them. Whats involved? Is it easy? or is it just easier to pay someone?
Before All toys there was the Landcruiser
Do you have a good mechanical aptitude?????
They are not hard to do if you have a little nouse. Remvove the tail shaft. Remove the circlips from the uni joint caps, on the inside of the yoke.
Support the shaft on an open vice. Have the jaws open about 3/4 of the diameter of the shaft. Support the shaft on the welded section NOT the tubular section of the shaft, it will dent!!!
Hit the loose yoke downwards to push the lower cap out of the shaft. Repeat on other side.
If you have any doubts and want to save a little then remove the shaft yourself and take it to a w/shop to fit uni's
Cheers, Dan
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
