new and question

Post by patrick4x4 »

Hello,

I'm Patrick from Holland. I have 4 suzuki's (Samurai, SJ413K, LJ80V and LJ80Q).
I'm trying to fit a Suzuki Baleno 1.8 16v engine into my SJ413 Pick Up.
Somebody at Zuwharrie.com told me that maybe someone on this forum could help me out!
I'm looking for the right transmission. I know the 1.8 16v engine (J18a) and the Vitara 2.0 16v (j20a) transmission are a good match.
But finding one overhere is very difficult (they are all still on the road  ).
I can get my hand on the transmission of a Vitara 2.0 V6 engine, but I doubt if it will fit the J18a engine.
Before I signed up I've read some threads about the J18a engine, but I couldn't find what transmission will fit.
Hope you can help me...
Thanks!

Patrick

Here's a build with a 2.0 (J20A) which is basically the same engine as the 1.8 (J18A) in front of a 1.6 trans
http://members.cox.net/aftermarket4x4/2 ... acker.html

Here is the 2.0 in a Sierra/Samurai in front of the Sierra 5 speed. http://members.cox.net/aftermarket4x4/2liter.html Trail Tough offer a kit for this.

From the parts diagram the V6 has a different bellhousing to the 2.0 4cyl but the trans itself appears to be basically the same. You would need to do some more investigating on this one.

My research tells me that a 2.0L 4cyl will bolt up to a 1.6L transmission.
this is research only, I haven't bolted them together myself yet but they are both in the shed ready to go.

Thanks for all the info so far! I always figured the 1.8 Baleno/Esteem engine wouldn't match the 1.6 Vitara/Tracker gearbox.
In this thread is says the bellhousing configurations are very different:

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic ... ght=baleno

But if the 1.8 Baleno and 2.0 Tracker engine are basically the same it should fit according to the article of Aftermarket4x4.

I'm a bit more optimistic now!

I think I must find someone who'll lend me the bellhousing of a Vitara 1.6 gearbox so I can try if it is a match!
