Hi all
i have a chap here who will be helping me do a roof chop on the troopy, but i also have an idea to make it into an extra cab
here are the two ideas
1. cut off the roof, ROPS bar where the c pillar used to be so i can still have second row seats. soft top that goes back level to the rops and then as a fast back to the tailgate.
2. take out the middle section of the truck and bring the rear of the truck forwards as an extra cab. instead of having a full dual cab i would have two sidwards facing seats behind the main seats so that i could either have a pair of passengers or an internal load space. This way i could avoid having a full length dual cab but still have passengers.
What am i trying to achieve? I want to get as much weight off the rear (weighs a fair bit and won't flex in the rear as i need HD springs), get as much weight off up high so it's safer off road and so i can put a body lift in (to fit 37's). I'd like it to perform better in the hardcore stuff, as well as still be fairly practical for touring.
What are your thoughts on the pros and cons of each idea? They will both cost similar in the end. And don't say buy a patrol or 80x, i need the high roof line up front as i've had a broken neck in the past.

so what do you reckon. i think that the open wellback ute is a bit more original but will still suffer from dragging it's arse and is insecure
the extra cab ute is good but still has more up top stability wise, but it's secure and i could put a pair of small side facing dickie seats in it.
edit. i'm also wondering how it will look with the second row of seats and seat back sticking up above the sides as well as having a roll bar in the middle. would it look silly?

Just wondering as i personally think it would look better to do a stretched ute syle look with flat roof. But thats just me.
Or we could just go crazy and do xc style with suicide doors

yeah i know. i can never seem to get the pics to work. i put in the right tags but it only seems to show the url. if you cut and paste the url it should work for you
