Has anyone bought a new Headlight Combination Switch (AKA headlight stalk) for a GQ.
Just wondering what Ni$$an will charge for a new one.
Mine has been playing up for a while now. Ive pulled it out, cleaned and fiddled with the contacts so many times because the DS headlight would intermittently work.
Now its begining to light the DS headlight when I use the blinkers.
I found one at the wreckers but it looked worse than what I currently have so I didnt get it.
most range from $150-$300 im not sure on patrol havent fitted one yet.
unless you pay stuff all for a 2nd hand one,( which in most cases wreakers charge an arm and leg for it) your wasting your time as youll probly only get 12 months out of it if your lucky
Mine was playing up about 18mths ago. I took it off and pulled it apart as much as i could and sprayed about half a can of WD40 through it a couple of times. Dryed her up and she's worked beautifully ever since.

Yeah, I think Ive exhausted the spray it to buggery trick this time.
think I payed around $120 for mine. But there was a discussion on this about 6mths ago. And I was wondering if a stalk off a Pulsar might also fit. As these can be had from pick a part for probably 10bucks.
i just got one from the local wrecker when I had issues changing to high beam! Unable remember the price so it would've been less than $30
All sweet now!
this was just the indicator stalk and attached block thingy!
Cheers
The old man's Navara's parkers used to come on all by themselves because of the switch in stalk stuffed. I forget the dollars but it was very cheap for Nissan and it looked exactly like a GQ one. I made a mental note that it's the same because it was so cheap.
can i use a mate to position while i screw?
I believe that pulsar's use the same setup, you could find one of them at the wreckers, I used a pulsar unit in mine cause i came with an ajustable intermitted wiper switch.
Hoppy
Mine wouldn't dip back to low beam after you had been on high beam. Replaced the switch with a second hand one about 4 years ago for about $100 and no probs since. Just try and find one out of a later model rig or as has been said the pulsar may be cheaper.

I had this same problem. went and got one from the wreckers and same deal... so ended up going to nissan and the guy told me this is a comman fault on all nissans!!! they just end up getting worse and evantully one of ur headlights will be stuck on 24/7...

Just the driver's side? Interesting, I thought the switch would operate both sides jointly so it sounds a little odd.
Anyway, another reason to upgrade to a relay set-up before your switch shiats itself... if that's what it is.

The switch does operate both sides jointly. But each side has its own contact. So in my case the driverside was the one playing up.
When i flick my highbeams on with spotties on they come on instantly but are delayed in turning off when flicked off. Would this be combo or relay fault?? Just started happening a couple of weeks ago.
Might have to find a pulsar switch, and i beleive steering wheels fit perfect too??

ooppss
no cutting or soldering required!
just a couple of screws, and unplug!
Easy DIY!
cheers
Thank you for all your help guys, saved me a bucket load of cash if I went into Nissan and gotten them to source and fit my indicator stalk.
I ordered the part from Nissan spares for $130. It took me under 10mins to install, it was just a simple proccess unscrewing then unclipping the connections and then vice versa.
Alot cheaper than taking her in for this job ehs?
Nissan wanted to charge me $500 to replace the fluids in my drive train WTF!!!!, I can only imagine how much they would have charged to supply and fit the light combo switch.
