I went out fishing on Sat , pulled up on the beach to set up and could smell this horrible burning smell... so much the kids thought there was a fire somewhere near by .
I searched all the wiring as the smell is an electrical / plastic smell .
Drove home and yup it is still there .
I can smell it strong when the bonnet is closed up along the gap between bonnet and fender on the drivers side .
I can touch every wire and cant find any hot to the touch , battery is not hot nor the terminals .
I disconnected the duel batteries solenoid and the smell is still there .
I had a mate come over and he can smell it bad , but still neither of us can actually locate or identify the problem .
All fuses work , no sign of burnt or smoke , so I'm asking for ideas please .
What should i be looking at /for
Thanx in advance

Range Rover 300tdi electrical burn smell
Moderator: Micka
no breather lines/looms etc hanging on the exhaust?
Had a smoke leakage in my rangie a few years ago, before I bought it off the folks, and couldn't find the source - ended up continuing driving and watching the vents, but nothing. Nothing showed up looking for it, and eventually about 6 months later ended up discovering (while looking at something completely unrelated) that the floor mounted dip switch for high beam someone had fitted had zapped itself.
