what causes the wobble in the steering on a zook?
i know what to fix on coil sprung vehicles like my GU etc.. but i know fark all about leaf sprung zooks.
its still SPUA, but its got suzuki carryvan springs in the front.

i dont really want to spend any money on it as its not going to stay on the road for too much longer. and all im doing with it in the meantime would be the occasional trip not too far from home.
could the bushes have anything to do with it? if i can take it out and put into the other one im building then i dont mind spending a bit

its been a while no more than 30 bucks a side for seals and bearings about 10bucks each ( there are 4) don't quote me its been a while.
you can buy a swivel hub rebuild kit which come with every thing you need, its just a long job about 3 to 4 hours per side if done properly (cleaning etc) I used to get the kits from GRP auto when Greg was there.

make sure the tyres dont have rocks inside, i recently put my old tyres back on and they either had rocks, or the rubber inside had degraded and fallen apart.. would wobble like crazy if i hit a small bump and would have to slow to a stop to get it to calm down.

If the swivel hub bearings are gone you may as well do the wheel bearings also (which could very well be the problem). Also check your tie rod ends, if there has been a front end shimmy for long enough they could very well be stuffed too.

J-top, a litle extra detail on tightening the steering box.
And yes, it can eliminate steering vibration even when there is no apparent freeplay. My Sierra would practically shake itself off the road when it reached 75kmh until I got this right!
Loosen the locknut, then slightly back off the lockbolt.
Turn the bolt down again till it makes contact. Just firm contact, wiggle it back and forth a couple of times to make sure, and don't over-tighten it.
Hold the bolt with firm screwdriver while you tighten locknut.
I check mine every six months (but hey, it is 22 years old after all!)

Wheel bearings. and swivel hub kit. possibly steering adjustment but if you think about it it shouldnt need adjusting all the time it might be masking another problem!
mine does the same if i use large offset rims F100 15x8 25mm outer spacing.
its ok with 215 and 235 but as soon as i put the larger offset rims on its really noticible.
