warn free spool handle

Post by ausoops »

ive got a m800 and the freespool fouls on the winch bar when trying to unlock the clutch. i know i can spin the clutch around but that would put the freespool at the back in a pita spot to reach. ive seen the freespool 'switch' that is on the tabor/magnum range but arb dont/wont sell one (no spares for magnum winches apparently).

what have other people used in place of the original warn handle?

I have the same prob with my M8000, previous owner ground a schamfer on the lever so it just clears the opening in the bar .
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

yeah, if push comes to shove i'll just take to the handle with the grinder, it only needs 9-10mm of material off one edge to clear the hole in the bar.

Is it a full steel handle or big plastic knob on the end?

I replaced the plastic knob in my M10000 with a rubber stop from a walking stick (Clarke Rubber style)

(not the best pics but you get the idea)

Just give it a tap to bend it.
