2.8 GQ Mods?

Post by Spoon It »

Hi all, I'm new to the group and chasing some information/help/advice? I have a 2.8 turbo diesel GQ Patrol in which I've been very happy with thus far. I'm looking for mods to improve it, mainly interested in hearing from the guys who have been there and done it with these issues. Thinking of intercooling it, and possibly putting it on the new diesel gas system. Any advice on these things or other ideas that have been done would be great. Cheers.

The 2.8 loves a big intercooler and good exhaust.

I would be interested to hear what a "good" exhaust is for a 2.8 GQ. Also would it be best to get done before or after the intercooler or doesn't matter? There was a good thread a few months back which I just found here which gives some good suggestions on g etting more power out of a 2.8 without selling it and buying a 4.2 1930s designed donk. :D

How do you go about the intercooler though? Spoken to a few place and they have indicated it to be, too hard. Has anyone done it before and how?

I haven't got one but would love to put one on. I would be looking more toward a front mount to avoid the need for a body lift if you put on a top mount of a GU. Aparently the one of a 3.0 litre is quite a good fit on a gq though if you wanted to think about a body lift.

Do this and you will be more than satisfied:

Following engine mods:
big GT2871R.86AR bb turbo
12mm plunger from a german made MAN truck. pump is set up to deliver 100cc of fuel.
injectors set to 155ats
3" dump/exhaust
custom plenum chamber( velocity stacks inside)
3" IC pipes
Big FMIC
Powershot LPG injection
Snow Performance Water/meth injection
Big kn airfilter
Exedy xtreme clutch

Puts out around 250hp/500nm. My latest mods was water injection and I`m very happy with the power increase.
