hilux diff bearings

Post by virtha21 »

Can anyone tell me if the carrier bearings on a hilux lsd are the same size as an open centre? I just brought back a spool from the states and the bearings from my lsd are about 5mm bigger on the inner ring of the bearing, need to know if pen centre ran smaller carrier bearings?

When I fitted my lockers the front open centre was using a different size carrier bearing than the rear LSD. Same OD but different ID. Can possibly get you the bearing number of the smaller ID bearing if needed.

i'm 99% sure it only depends on age say before 86? they were the smaller ID bearing.

Where i ran into it was mates 97 ln106 front diff but he's unsure if the ratios were changed before he owned it. If they are different bearings are only like $15ish a side from a bearing shop.

I know the V6 models had larger bearings maybe the spool you got was for a 4cyl? the rear lsd may have been a 4 pinion which i think had larger bearings aswell.

As sic lux said the bearings are available and pretty cheap so dont stree too much mate give them your sizes and they should be able to get you the right bearing.
