best advice i can give is buy a genuine thermostat. Did this after people on here said similiar.

Drain only about 1/2 but if old coolant, why not renew it anyway.

I changed mine on tuesday. Took all of about 10 min.

-Pulled off upper radiator hose from radiator side (caught coolant in icecream tub as its only 2 weeks old)

-pulled off upper radiator hose from thermostat housing

-unbolted thermostat housing

-cleaned both mating surfaces with razor blade (to remove old gasket)

-put in new thermo

-put in new gasket

-bolt it all up, put on radiator hose

-put coolant back in, bleed air out of system

-take car for test drive

-re-check tension on thermo housing bolts and radiator hose clamps

DONE!!
