i bought the landcruiser and the guy has tech screwed the side steps/brash bar into the body , i need to see how they are properly mounted so i can fix this stupid stuff up

1995 land rover disco on 265 muddies
SWB Jeeps are popular for having sill protection bolted to the bodywork. It's not dodgy at all, it's strong when designed well and doesn't impeded ground clearance. Warn, ARB plus a whole lot of other US suppliers make this type of sill protection commercially.

Your u-bolts need a square U, not a round U, and need to be large enough to wrap around your chassis rail. You need 2 u-bolts per mount. Hook your u-bolts around your chassis so the threads face outwards. Weld the arms of your sliders to some plate, drill four holes into the plate to match the spacing of your u-bolts. Bolt it all up.
Mine are not mounted with u-bolts. Instead there is another plate on the inside of the chassis rail which effectively sandwiches the chassis between that plate and the outer one that the slider arm is welded to. 4 high tensile bolts pull the plates together.
